The Truck Camper
Our Rig—
2024 Palomino HS-8801
2024 Ford F-350 XLT
With the truck camper, the rig isn’t being towed. It’s mounted right in the pickup truck bed—secure, centered, and riding tall. We carefully selected the camper to match the truck we already trusted—our Ford F-350.
Once the truck was dialed in, it was time to turn our attention to the camper itself, affectionately known as Little Mae.
But before we could even think about setting up the camper, we had to get the truck dialed in. Because when you haul a full-size camper over the axle, it changes everything—how the truck handles, how it balances, and how it responds on the road.
“Here I am, on the road again…”
—Bob Seger, “Turn the Page” (1973)

That’s kind of the point of the truck camper, isn’t it? The freedom to follow the road, or make your own. See how we’ve done both in our stories from the road.

Inside The Blog is where we share the stories behind our travels and the road-tested finds that help keep our rigs tidy and ready to roll—one stop at a time.
Note—
We didn’t find many detailed truck camper gear lists when we were starting out.
So we made one—after trial, error, and a few forgotten essentials.
We’ll be sharing soon!
If this helps you plan your own setup (or avoid a rookie mistake or two), we’re glad to pass it on.
