Cape May, Then and Now
Memorial Weekend at The Depot Travel Park
Some places just stay with you—like Cape May. And some places, like The Depot Travel Park, don’t change much at all. That’s part of what makes coming back feel like flipping through an old photo album—familiar, time-worn, and still in good shape.

One of the highlights this trip was visiting the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum—an old World War II hangar turned hands-on exhibit at the Cape May Airport. It’s dog-friendly (Louie approved), and packed with history you can walk through—cockpits, wingspans, and engine panels that make you pause. You don’t have to be an aviation buff to appreciate the sheer scale of it. Louie inspected each aircraft like it might serve snacks.

We rolled in for Memorial Weekend and made the most of a sunny day by hopping on the bikes—Louie in his Bikase basket, ears in the wind, checking the scene. Cape May is perfect for that kind of ride: breezy, bike-friendly, and full of stop-worthy corners. Oceans, bays, shops, markets, and restaurants all within easy reach. Every ride feels like it could lead to something good.
We’ll be rolling out The Bike Kit soon, with all the details on how we set up for two wheels and one pup on board.

Evenings at the site had a rhythm of their own. T, true to form, pulled out the acoustic guitar just as the sky started to turn golden. One song led to another, and in no time, strangers became neighbors—drawn in by the sound, a story, or just the quiet comfort of shared air.

C was dialing in the tidy rhythm for Big Mama, our travel trailer—sorting gear, setting routines, and figuring out what makes this space work best on the road.
As for The Depot Travel Park—we’ve been coming here for nearly 30 years, starting with our first truck camper, a Coachmen. Back then, we didn’t have much figured out. But we knew a good stop when we found one. And this one’s kept its rhythm—just enough upkeep to stay tidy, and just enough nostalgia to bring us back.
We’ll be sharing more soon—our setups, the spaces we’ve organized, and the kits that keep it all rolling smoothly.
